The Garden Isle is a collection of work created using materials gathered along the coastline of the Isle of Wight.
This piece has been shaped using clays, sands, and natural materials collected from across the island’s shoreline. Inspired by textures, forms, and details observed along the coast, the vessel combines rugged surfaces with flowing organic movement, echoing weathered rock formations, tidal patterns, and seaweeds found amongst the rock pools.
Three different natural glazes have been layered throughout the piece, each created using local materials foraged along the coast. Fine sands and tiny stones have been embedded directly into the clay body, creating a tactile surface that reflects the raw character of the coastline itself. The result is a piece that feels deeply connected to the landscape from which it was formed.
