Thames Matter is a collection of work created through collecting both materials and inspiration directly from the River Thames foreshore.
This piece, titled Thames Matters: Spoil 0.0, is inspired by the fragments of glass found scattered along the Thames foreshore. As the tide moves in and out, small pieces of weathered glass are revealed, catching the light and shining amongst the mud, stones and debris. These glass shards have been applied into Thames slip, creating a contrast between areas of shine and areas of bubbling, ruptured texture. The combination of the reflective glass and naturally occurring qualities of the Thames slip captures the varied and unexpected materials found along the foreshore.
