Thames Matter is a collection of work created through collecting both materials and inspiration directly from the River Thames foreshore.
These pieces, titled Thames Matters: Rupture Miniatures, are inspired by the fractured and ruptured surfaces found along the Thames foreshore. Thames slip has been applied to the surface of the miniature vessels, creating a natural blistered and ruptured effect as the slip reacts during firing. The varied tones and broken textures reflect the changing surfaces of the foreshore, capturing the marks, cracks and remnants left behind as the tide moves in and out.
