Thames Matter is a collection of work created through collecting both materials and inspiration directly from the River Thames foreshore.
This piece, titled Thames Matters: Residue, is inspired by the traces and deposits left behind along the Thames foreshore as the tide moves in and out. A layer of Thames slip has been applied to the surface of the vessel, creating a natural blistered effect as the slip reacts during firing. The changing tones and surface qualities reflect the residue left behind by the river, capturing the marks, deposits and remnants revealed as the tide recedes.
