Thames Matter is a collection of work created through collecting both materials and inspiration directly from the River Thames foreshore.
This piece, titled Thames Matters: Remnants, takes direct influence from a fragment of a pot found along the Thames foreshore. The fragment features a simple form with horizontal lined details, its original source and era unknown. I was drawn to the simplicity of the design and the sense of history held within the fragment. I recreated these features within a new vessel, using a combination of London clay, sourced along the Thames, and black stoneware.
