Thames Matter is a collection of work created through collecting both materials and inspiration directly from the River Thames foreshore.
This piece, titled Thames Matter: Trace, is inspired by the marks, cracks and traces left across the landscape of the foreshore. I am interested in the way the landscape changes through erosion, drying and movement, leaving behind patterns and textures that record where it has been. The form and surface of the vessel respond to these details, using layered glazes and textures to recreate some of the cracks, eroded surfaces and subtle traces I notice along the Thames foreshore.
