Thames Matter is a collection of work created using materials gathered along the River Thames.
The main form of this lidded, apothecary inspired bottle is a combination of lightly processed clay collected from along the Thames foreshore and a black stoneware clay. It has been finished using a unique ash glaze recipe that combines Thames clay with birch wood ash. This creates an unpredictable finish, in the case of this piece, there is a shimmering black sheen with striking yet subtle areas of textured, multi-tonal golden-brown.
