Thames Matter is a collection of work created using materials gathered along the River Thames.
The main body of this small yet detailed pot is made from commercial stoneware clay blended with sand from the River Thames. The exterior incorporates three clays collected from different locations along the river’s foreshore. One fires to a distinctive black, textured bubbling effect, while another produces varied beige tones with a noticeable sheen. The final clay fires to a dark matte brown with subtle light swirls.
