A layer of Thames slip has been applied to the top of the two vessels, creating a natural blistered effect as the slip reacts during firing. The base of the vessels takes influence from the weathered surface of a large rock found along the foreshore. I recreated this coarse, uneven texture using a combination of London clay, found along the Thames, and black stoneware.
